Malnourished children need therapeutic peanut paste to recover.π₯π₯
Malnutrition is one of the most pressing health challenges in Sierra Leone, affecting approximately one in five children under the age of five. Chronic hunger, limited access to nutritious food, and economic instability have led to high rates of stunting and wasting among young children. Malnutrition weakens immune systems, increases the risk of disease, and causes long-term developmental delays if left untreated. Despite the efforts of government and community health programs, nutrition clinics often face severe shortages of therapeutic food and essential resources, leaving many vulnerable children without consistent treatment. To address this crisis, Cry4humanity established two outpatient feeding clinics with a mission to provide consistent, reliable nutrition therapy for malnourished children. These clinics have become a lifeline in their communities, offering medical assessment, monitoring, and food therapy for children diagnosed with acute malnutrition. What sets our clinics apart is the ability to maintain a steady supply of therapeutic foodβsomething that is unfortunately rare in other local facilities. This consistency has earned us a reputation as the only outpatient feeding centers that always have food and resources available each week, ensuring no child is turned away. One of the most effective tools in the fight against malnutrition is therapeutic peanut paste, a nutrient-rich, ready-to-use food specially formulated for rapid recovery. Each sachet contains essential vitamins, minerals, and calories that help children regain their strength and health. A full course of treatment requires several weeks of consistent feeding. When funding is sufficient, the clinics can provide therapy for approximately 40 children for 5 weeks with just 25 cases of therapeutic paste. These lifesaving efforts are made possible through the generosity of donors who contribute to the ongoing supply of therapeutic food and medical care. Each donation ensures that the clinics can continue to operate, purchase the necessary paste, and sustain treatment for children in need. By supporting child nutrition initiatives in Sierra Leone, donors are not only helping children survive malnutrition but also giving them the chance to thrive, grow, and achieve a brighter futUre.
